Home Hardware Stores Limited’s (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “Home Hardware”, “us” or “we”) Beaver Homes and Cottages website (the “Site”) offers you the opportunity to create a scrapbook of information, including model preferences, specifications, relevant purchase documents, warranty information, etc. to help you design and construct a home or cottage (our “Scrapbook”).

Home Hardware Stores Limited understands the importance of your personal privacy. We have instituted policies and procedures to ensure that any personal information (meaning information about an identifiable individual, and may include your name, home address, home telephone number and home e-mail) you provide to us, as a result of our relationship with you, will be treated with the utmost care and respect. We will treat your personal information just as carefully as we would treat our own. Please take a moment to review our privacy commitment to you.

Home Hardware Stores Limited collects personal information about individuals in order to better manage its relationship with them. You can feel free to use many of the features on this Site without providing any personal information. However, in order to save your preferences and work with our design team via the Site, you will have to register and provide us with certain personal information. Once registered, you will be able to use the Scrapbook feature of the Site, which we hope you will find to be an effective and exciting tool to manage your building project.

If you opt-in to allowing us to share your personal information with your preferred Home Hardware Dealer (for the purposes of the Privacy Policy “Dealer” means an independently owned and operated store operating under one of the following Home Hardware Stores Limited banners: Home Hardware, Home Hardware Building Centre, Home Building Centre or Home Furniture) , that Dealer will be able to access and view your Scrapbook and add information such as quarter prints, product preferences/selections, purchase documents, payment details (without any reference to credit card details), photographs, and warranty information (collectively, the “Dealer-Added Information”). This Dealer-Added Information will be linked to your personal information and viewable by you, your preferred Dealer and Home Hardware Stores Limited.

Home Hardware Stores Limited will only collect information that is pertinent and necessary to manage your relationship with us. We will limit the collection and use of personal information to that which is required for valid business purposes, or to comply with legislation.

Where possible, Home Hardware Stores Limited will collect your personal information directly from you, often directly through the management of your relationship with us. As set out above, if you opt-in to allow us to share your personal information with your preferred Home Hardware dealer, that dealer will be able to add Dealer-Added Information to your Scrapbook.

Home Hardware Stores Limited will obtain your consent to collect, use or disclose your personal information. At the point of registration, you will have the opportunity to opt-in to receive information from us about promotions and other products and services that may be of interest to you. You will also have the opportunity to opt-in to having us disclose your personal information to your preferred Home Hardware Dealer.

Where you voluntarily give us personal information (such as on the Site registration page), we will consider your consent to use of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy to be implied. Where quarter prints or preliminary drawings are posted in your Scrapbook by your preferred Home Hardware Dealer, you grant Home Hardware Stores Limited the right to access those quarter prints in order to revise the specifications as requested by you. Should you decide to withdraw your consent allowing Home Hardware Stores Limited to collect, use, or disclose your personal information considered reasonable to fulfill the needs of our relationship, we may not be able to continue to provide you with the programs, services or benefits offered under this Site.

Home Hardware Stores Limited will use and disclose your personal information in accordance with our privacy policy, for the purposes it was collected, for managing your relationship with us, or as required by law.

We do not give or sell any personal information to third parties for marketing purposes, except as stated herein. If you opt-in to sharing your personal information with your preferred Home Hardware dealer, we will provide that Dealer with access to your Scrapbook and a sales representative from that Dealer may contact you directly to discuss your building project.

We may disclose your personal information within our company, to affiliated companies, Dealers, and to other companies or organizations that provide services on our behalf, whether upon our direction or the direction of a third party. We will only provide those companies and organizations the information required to deliver the service and will prohibit them from using that information for any other purpose. These companies and organizations with which we share your personal information are bound by appropriate agreements with Home Hardware Stores Limited to secure and protect your personal information.

Home Hardware Stores Limited may use aggregated information (not linked to your personal information) from the Scrapbooks of Site users as well as Dealer-Added Information to improve the content of the Site or to improve the quality or variety of the products, services and promotions we offer. We may also use information regarding your activities on the Site to learn how to best tailor our site and the services and offers to you and our other visitors. Sometimes we use cookie technology, web beacons and/or similar devices on this website to enhance functionality and navigation for our visitors. Information tracked through these mechanisms includes, but is not limited to: (i) your IP address; (ii) the type of web browser and operating system being used; (iii) the pages of the website a user visits; and/or (iv) other websites a user visited before visiting this website.

If there is a disagreement or a discrepancy with regard to an issue of accuracy, this will be noted on your file.

Home Hardware Stores Limited utilizes safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information. Appropriate safeguards will also be used when we destroy your personal information.

Home Hardware Stores Limited supports your right to access personal information that we have collected about you. To make a request for access to your personal information we have on file, please contact our Privacy Officer.

For example, you will not have access to files that contain information about other individuals or information that is confidential to Home Hardware Stores Limited.
